Do you know what's hidden behind this aerodynamically shaped bulge mounted to the aircraft wing?
For many smaller single-engine aircraft, this is a feature you can order when selecting the extras for your brand new plane or can be later installed too. What you see here is the weather radar housing. On larger jets, the weather radar is often hidden under the nose cone. As single-engine aircraft don't really have a nose cone, engineers had to come up with a different solution. So they placed the aerodynamically shaped housing at the leading edge of the wing to fit the small radar antenna.Β
