Entangled birds are unusual for seal rescuer Naude but are certainly not uncommon globally. The global plastic crisis has reached every part of the planet. Countless birds have fallen victim to ghost fishing gear, plastic packaging, ropes, straps and any other possible type of rubbish. This seagull was lucky and got to live. Most others don't.
We want to thank the individual who reported the entangled bird to us. Most people would have looked the other way and declared this bird "collateral damage."
