Repairing a BIG Mining Truck Cylinder Barrel | Part 1 | Machining & Welding
We've got a cylinder barrel in to repair off a BIG Mining Haul truck! This is the hoist cylinder barrel off a Caterpillar 789 Mining haul truck and the inside has been damaged. In this part 1 video we show the step by step process of disassembling the damaged cylinder barrel and start machining up the new barrel. First is machining off the barrel end and head flange. We then start machining up the new cylinder barrel by turning down one end to fit the head flange. The head flange is then installed with an interference fit before dual shield welding the head flange onto the new barrel. Stay tuned for Part 2 where we finish machining, honing and welding the new barrel!
