Poached Pear 🍐 #shorts

Ingredients
- 4 cups water
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 lemon
- Vanilla pod
- Cinnamon stick
- 1 tsp all spice
- 2 star anise
- 4 pears
- Vanilla ice cream

Method
1. Peel your lemon and leave the rind to the side for later. Slice the lemon and add it to a bowl of water.
2. Take out the core of the pears and peel them. Place them in the lemon so they don’t go brown.
3. Add 4 cups of water, sugar, lemon zest, star anise, all spice, vanilla pod and cinnamon stick into a pot to boil.
4. Once boiling, turn down to a medium heat and add your pears. Let the pears simmer for 20 minutes or fork tender, turning occasionally.
5. Once they are soft enough to easily pierce. Remove them from the poaching liquid and place in a bowl.
6. Turn the heat up high and let the poaching liquid boil until it turns into a syrup (about 20 minutes).
7. Serve your pears with the syrup and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
