Hyundai Genesis 4.6 V8 TAU “BAD” Engine Teardown. Well, it WAS good but now…

I've been tearing down engines on camera for 2 and a half years! Search my channel to see what I've torn down.
I'm VERY excited to tear into one of these for the first time. A Hyundai/Kia TAU 4.6L V8. This is an engine from a rear ended Hyundai Genesis sedan with 150K miles. This was an engine another yard sold to a customer who said it wouldn't turn all the way over. It was never installed and apparently never investigated as to why.
The TAU V8 came out I the late 2000's in the Kia Borrego and the Hyundai Genesis sedan. This, being an early engine is not direct injected but still makes an impressive 385hp. Many Hyundai and Kia engines from this era are a crapshoot for how reliable they are. They make some really reliable engines, and some really unreliable engines.
This video is proof that the auto salvage industry, like many, is imperfect. Its unfortunate but this type of experience is a great learning tool and should be applied when the scenario fits.
Why on earth am I doing these teardowns? I own and run a full service auto salvage business in the Saint Louis area called Importapart. Part of our model is buying blown, core and unwanted engines and dismantling them to resell the good, usable parts. We do not rebuild engines, we merely supply parts to those who do.
I really hope you enjoyed this teardown. As always, I love all of the comments, feedback, and even the criticism. Catch you on the next one!
