Designing repairable #technology is the best way to combat e-waste #tech #pc #computer #shorts
These older computers are proof that the most effective way of combating e-waste is to design things to be upgradeable and repairable. We've reached a point in technology where computers of 10 years ago can do nearly all of the things the average user requires from a device. These computers benefit massively from cheap modern tech upgrades like SSD's and more RAM. And without these upgrades, they would otherwise end up in a landfill. Unfortunately Microsoft has decided hundreds of millions of PC's will not be able to handle Windows 11, therefore any CPU made before 2017 will be unsupported, which is going to have a massive effect on the environment. Thankfully there is a bypass for this, but who knows how long that will last. So tell me, are you using a computer older than 2017, and what will you do when 2025 comes and Windows 10 is no longer supported?
