Can AI Be Contained? + New Realistic AI Avatars and AI Rights in 2 Years
From an AI Los Alamos to the first quasi-realistic AI avatar & and from spies at AGI labs to AI consciousness in 2 years, this was a week of underrated revelations and discussions of AI consciousness, regret over ChatGPT’s precipitous release, and more. We’ll see snippets of the debate with George Hotz and Connor Leahy, touching on the three borderline unanswerable questions for our future, and cover an insight from Jan Leike, head of alignment at OpenAI, who did a 3 hour interview with 80,000 hours. I’ll also showcase Palantir’s plans for an AI arms race, and how GPT 5 and Gemini will be recruited for cyber defence. https://www.patreon.com/AIExplained AI Avatar from HeyGen: https://twitter.com/joshua_xu_/status/1689019874667024384 Waitlist: https://am8evw00qys.typeform.com/to/wauwjUYP?typeform-source=t.co Dario Amodei Interview on Dwarkesh Patel Lunar Society Podcast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nlkk3glap_U Wired Anthropic Piece: https://www.wired.co.uk/article/the-making-of-the-atomic-bomb-artificial-intelligence White House Announcement: https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2023/08/09/biden-harris-administration-launches-artificial-intelligence-cyber-challenge-to-protect-americas-critical-software/?ref=futuretools.io Sam Altman Bankless Interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HFyXYvMwFc Supermarket Chlorine Gas: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/aug/10/pak-n-save-savey-meal-bot-ai-app-malfunction-recipes? 4 BROKEN Apple MacBooks But Can I Fix Them?!
Sign up for Whatnot and follow me so you don't miss the auction & giveaway: https://whatnot.com/invite/tronicsfix Live auction will be Monday, August 14 at 10:00am PST. Be sure you're following me as only those following me will be eligible for the giveaway. 4 BROKEN Apple MacBooks But Can I Fix Them?! I bought 4 broken MacBooks because I love experimenting to see if I can diagnose and fix them. They had a variety of issues including screen problems, a faulty battery, liquid damage, and one that needed to be reset via DFU. MacBooks are very difficult for me to fix but I still love trying. ►Tools & Parts I Use (paid link): https://www.amazon.com/shop/tronicsfix ►TronicsFix Game Console Repair Forum: https://www.tronicsfixforum.com/ 🎵 Like the Music? Sign up today at https://acorns.com/luke Apple Silicon has no doubt changed the game in terms of performance per watt and seamless integration within the Apple Ecosystem; but the new machines have also caused some backsliding in terms of upgradability and repairability. With SOCs, soldered RAM and storage, and serial locked parts, Apple has made it harder than ever to repair your devices. But that changes today. I met up with Collin, aka @dosdude1 , and we're going to provide comprehensive, up to date information on exactly how YOU can upgrade the SSD in your Apple Silicon Mac!! Maybe don’t buy this perfect laptop…
The 15" MacBook Air is nearly perfect—but that doesn't mean it's my recommendation for many—perhaps even most... Purchase the 15" MacBook Air - https://snazzy.fm/kk Purchase the 14" MacBook Pro - https://snazzy.fm/DN Get exclusive content as a Snazzy Labs channel member!: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCO2x-p9gg9TLKneXlibGR7w/join Follow Snazzy Labs on Twitter - http://twitter.com/snazzyq Follow me on Instagram - http://instagram.com/snazzyq I’ve been using the 15” MacBook Air as my every-day laptop for over a month and I think this is the closest Apple has ever gotten to the perfect laptop—but that doesn’t mean I'm going to keep using it; nor should you should rush out to buy one. Lemme cook here. Since the MacBook Air debuted 15-years-ago, it hasn't been offered in a size greater than 13". For a few years there, we had an even smaller version available at 11.6", but never larger than 13 and it... never made sense. The simple reality is that a lot of people want big screens: be it aging eyesight, larger workspace requirements, laptop-only workflows, whatever... and until last month, the only way to get an Apple laptop larger than 14" in size was to spend at least $2,500 for a 16" MacBook Pro that is hulkingly overkill for many that merely seek more display real estate. The option is great for those that need it, but I think more people believe themselves to need it than those that actually do.
