Did The Bad Batch reveal one of Rex’s high-level contacts inside the Galactic Empire? On Eriadu, a group of high-ranking Imperial officers gathered for a summit with Governor Tarkin. Doctor Hemlock was there to give a report on his cloning program at Mount Tantiss, but what he revealed shocked everyone in the room. His use of decommissioned clone troopers as test subjects caused Admiral Coburn, who had served with the clones for years, to come to their defense. He made it clear that these warriors were loyal and did not deserve to be dismissed out of hand.
This puts Admiral Coburn in an interesting position. His sympathetic view towards clone rights is at odds with that of other Imperial officers, making him a prime candidate to provide intel to Rex’s resistance network. Interestingly, Coburn served with Commander Wolffe during the Clone Wars, who years later would go into hiding with Gregor and Rex on Seelos. So it’s entirely possible that Coburn is Rex’s man on the inside.
