Former intelligence officer Philip Ingram discusses the mounting pressure felt by the West, in particular Germany, to step-up military support in Ukraine.
Mr Ingram says Russian forces, having captured the village of Soledar to the north, are now moving into the south of Bakhmut.
He said they are trying to encircle the area but Ukrainians are "defending extremely well".
