The Elizabeth school board controversy began when a group of parents accused the board of teaching critical race theory in the district's schools. The board denied the accusations, but the controversy continued to simmer.
In March, the board voted to ban critical race theory from the district's schools. However, the controversy continued, with some parents and community members calling for the resignation of the board members who voted for the ban.
