Today's teardown subject is the engine from a 2016 Infiniti Q50 3.0t. This is the VR30DDTT, which is the offered in a few different cars with two different power outputs including the Q50, Q60 and New Nissan Z. This particular example is the 300hp version and came from Phil at GAP automotive in south Florida. According to him, this engine was in a car with about 60k miles that was throwing some cam sensor codes and running poorly. Lets tear it down and see how bad it really is!
Why on earth am I doing these teardowns? I own and run a full service auto salvage business in the Saint Louis area called Importapart. Part of our model is buying blown, core and unwanted engines and dismantling them to resell the good, usable parts. We do not rebuild engines, we merely supply parts to those who do.
I really hope you enjoyed this teardown. As always, I love all of the comments, feedback, and even the criticism. Catch you on the next one!
